Fara Nizamani is an Associate Professor of English at the DigiPen Institute of Technology. She received her B.S.Ed. degree from the University of Miami and went on to earn both her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in English Literature. She has taught literature, writing, and pedagogy courses for over 30 years, and in her current position at DigiPen, she teaches courses such as storytelling, mythology, epic literature, and the graphic novel to students across several disciplines. As chair of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department, Fara oversees all of the courses in her department and coordinates course offerings with other departments and programs, with an eye toward integrating the study of humanities across the curriculum. She has published poetry, short stories, book reviews, articles on accommodating diverse populations in the classroom, and has presented at numerous conferences on diverse topics from accommodating the needs of Muslim students to understanding the importance of humanities in game development.
